The Egyptian prosecutor's office has ordered the release of 42 members of the Islamic fundamentalist group Muslim Brotherhood, including a top figure, a judicial source said Monday.
The Brotherhood members were arrested at different times and locations, including Cairo and Sohag in the southern part of Egypt, the source said, cited by AFP.
Six were arrested for holding an "illegal gathering" in the capital and no charge was specified for the others, including Rashad Bayyumi, a member of the Brotherhood's top body, the "guidance bureau."
The Brotherhood is officially banned, however the government tolerates its welfare activities while keeping the group under tight control. (Albawaba.com)
