Egypt’s Engineering Consultants Group (EGC) won a bid to design and build Al Ahram Village, the first smart village in Egypt, to be located on the Desert Road between Cairo and Alexandria, reported the weekly Middle East News Line.

The village will be a haven for IT and communications experts, away from bureaucratic restraints, said the weekly.

It is expected to attract local, Arab and international investments.

The village will include a conference center, with a capacity of 1,500 people, a business center, a center for radio and wired communications, and an e-library.

There will also be sports facilities, restaurants and a hotel, said the weekly – Albawaba.com
