Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced that it will be a key sponsor of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2006, building on its long-standing support of the event by offering expanded facilities and increased space to accommodate the growing number of exciting activities.

DWTC has a long history of involvement with DSS, acting as host for some of the most popular attractions since the event’s launch in 1998.

This connection is set to strengthen as this year DWTC, in association with DSS, will launch “DSS – Summer Family Fiesta 2006” from the 22-26 August 2006 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).  This exhibition is a unique event celebrating the best in food, fashion, fun and flair.

Events include a Hobbies and Craft Festival; Summer Food Festival; Summer Fashion Festival; and Recreation and Games Festival. As part of the Dubai Summer Surprises campaign, the events will be jointly promoted throughout the UAE and GCC with an extensive and exciting local and regional marketing campaign targeting over 50,000 visitors.

This year’s DSS, which runs from June 21 until September 1, 2006, is poised to attract more visitors than ever before. In 2005, over 1,510,000 people took part in DSS and this year the number is set to rise even further as families from around the region converge in Dubai to take part in these fun, family events.

“Dubai Summer Surprises is an excellent example of how organisations across Dubai work together to provide a series of unique experiences for residents and visitors, transforming what used to be the traditionally slow summer period into a highlight of the year,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.

“Dubai World Trade Centre is proud to be a sponsor of this key event and we look forward to ensuring that our contribution in 2006 supports the plans to make this year bigger and better than ever before,” he added.

DWTC’s support for the DSS events underlines the adaptability and flexibility of the DICEC as a whole. While it is traditionally seen as the host of some of the Middle East’s largest and most prestigious business exhibitions – including GITEX, Gulfood, Arabian Travel Market and Big 5, it is also a much-loved venue for family entertainment activities. Its long-standing support for DSS means that many children who have grown up in Dubai associate DWTC with their school summer holidays.

“DWTC supports DSS as part of our continued commitment to the community and also to support the wider drive to promote Dubai as a year-round tourist destination. We look forward to a long and ongoing relationship with this magnificent event,” concluded Al Marri.
