Head of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Airline and the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) Supreme Committee, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, declared that Festival 2002 would attract many visitors, even though it comes at a point where there are no long holidays, according to Emirates News Agency.

Most of the DSF visitors are from close GCC countries. Some of them drop by for just the weekend, but some manage to arrange their time and visit Dubai as well. Sheikh Ahmed expressed his desire that the Western response to the DSF be on the same level as last year’s or even greater.

Dubai, a world class tourism spot, is in high demand nowadays, due to the problematic travel conditions throughout the West, following the September 11 attacks. The Sheikh added that according to reports in UAE papers, Emirates Airline has had a significant increase in revenue throughout the holiday season, in comparison with last year. Emirates apparently is doing well and is back to the “pre-September 11” scene. Emirates’ success can also be reflected in their recent decision for a 15 US billion Dollar order for additional aircraft. (Albawaba.com)
