Dubai police will install 14 new devices to snare motorists who run red lights, the Gulf Times reported Saturday.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mohammed Saif Zafeen, deputy director of the Dubai traffic police department, was quoted by the daily as saying that “the devices will be installed at various intersections in the city.”
Zafeen explained that the new devices would detect any speeding car, as well as any vehicle that ran a red light, by taking pictures of the car at two points.
He said the Dubai police had recently introduced, on a trial basis, a digital radar system to take photos of speeding cars, and noted that the trial run was intended to evaluate the system’s performance and effectiveness, the daily reported – Albawaba.com
