Dubai Municipality (DM) has taken a step closer to realizing its objective of providing faster and more efficient services to customers by implementing a state-of-the-art solution to revamp its business process infrastructure.
The solution, which was implemented at the Administration and Quality Development Department, is expected to provide significant benefits to Dubai Municipality across different organizational levels, expediting processes and procedures.
The new solution is designed to give DM a clear vision as to the flow of processes to enable process optimization. It allows quick-wins to be realized immediately and potential benefits to be specified and evaluated in more detail. Furthermore, the solution would allow the DM management to make decisions based on exhaustive cost-benefit analysis and plan implementation of strategies accordingly.
“Dubai Municipality is constantly looking for ways to improve its overall functioning, and has been making significant investments in building an effective and scalable IT infrastructure,” said Abdul Hakim Abdul Kareem Malik, Director of IT Department, Dubai Municipality. “Today, process optimization has become crucial to achieving organizational goals. Implementing a sophisticated workflow software will allow us to develop a clear strategy roadmap, besides facilitating IT-supported controlling and monitoring of processes.”
Abdulla Al Shaibani, Assistant Director General for Technical Services, Dubai Municipality, said, “This strategic investment will help create a state-of-the-art technology environment that expedites processes and procedures, resulting in superior levels of organizational excellence. This would ultimately benefit the public, as streamlined processes will allow us to provide faster and more efficient services to our customers.”
The new solution would allow Dubai Municipality to identify relevant business processes on a high level and detail the same using a process modeling tool, facilitating process optimization. It also enables top-down documentation and gradual specification of business processes.
Cause-and-effect relationships are illustrated by appropriate performance indicators in process controlling. In addition, the workflow software assures the operability of the internal control system, and facilitates cost-effective implementation and efficient operation by reutilization of existing data.
