Dubai Aluminium Company DUBAL, one of the largest producers of premium quality aluminium in the world, is further enhancing its community-related programmes to encompass schools in Dubai for its “DUBAL Awareness Campaign.”
The programme is in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance & Industry, and Chairman of DUBAL, to increase the awareness about the role being played by the aluminium giant for the benefit of the society.
Mr. Khalid Essa Buhumaid, General Manager, Corporate Relations and International Affairs and the official spokesman of DUBAL said: “As part of this campaign, DUBAL will be initiating several measures including guiding the students at the high preparatory and secondary levels on the importance of Environment protection, Safety in daily life and Operations in DUBAL.”
“This will give the students a clear idea of the role being played by the company in the country’s overall development, the key aspects that are considered as priorities in the every day functioning of the aluminium giant and how students can do their bit for the benefit of the society,” Mr. Buhumaid added.
A delegation of DUBAL engineers will visit several schools which will be arranged in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the Dubai Educational Directorate (DED) and the respective school authorities. During their visit, two engineers in each specialization of the three categories will give a 30-minute lecture which will be accompanied by a 12-minute movie on DUBAL. Brochures will also be distributed along with some gifts.
Already contributing more than 7% to Dubai’s GDP, DUBAL recently inaugurated the expanded facilities at its two potlines – Potline 7 & 9 B – which has increased the production capacity by 100,000 tonnes per annum to a total of 861,000 TPA. The expansion was carried out at a cost of more than AED1-billion (USD280-million). DUBAL has also invested millions of dirhams in environment and safety measures that rank the company among the top global aluminium majors.
“Such community-involvement programmes will heighten the interest among the students about DUBAL and its functioning right from the early stages of their education. This will also help them to learn more about DUBAL’s contribution to the country and may probably interest them in the future to choose to be part of this international business success story,” concluded Mr. Buhumaid.
