The Dubai-based Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) plans to introduce two-year associate degree programs, in addition to a new degree program - a BA in International Travel and Tourism Management, in September 2002, the Khaleej Times reported.
Ron Hilvert, principal of EAHM, was quoted by the paper as saying that "a big demand for the associate degree program is being felt within and outside the UAE.”
According to Hilvert, the new system will help those students who are unable to complete the four-year degree program offered at the academy due to financial constraints. It will give them the option of stopping the program after two years, and putting themselves on the job market.
EAHM, an academic association with the prestigious Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland, opened its doors to students in Dubai in October 2001.
The academic association currently offers a four-year degree program - a BSc in International Hospitality Management and several short-term Professional Development courses.
EAHM currently has around 15 students in the hospitality management degree program, representing 10 different nationalities from Bulgaria, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Portugal, UK and one from the UAE – Albawaba.com
