The Department of Society and Government Relations at Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) was involved in an ‘Edia’ (Eid gifts) distribution program, sponsored by DP World. The program included visiting children suffering from thalassemia, cancer and other chronic diseases, and a visit to an old age home in Mamzar, Dubai.
A group of employees from PCFC visited the thalassemia section of Al Wasel Hospital, where they presented money to over 400 children suffering from thalassemia, in addition to other gifts. They also visited children suffering from cancer and kidney ailments at Dubai Hospital and distributed ‘Edia’ to them.
The medical staff highly appreciated this initiative from DP World, as this was the first time children were presented with money, giving them an opportunity to enjoy the true spirit of Eid.
Mariam Al Shamsi, Co-ordinator of the Department of Society and Government Relations, PCFC, said, “PCFC is very much a part of the society, and we are keen on sharing in the joys and sorrows of the people. On the occasion of Eid we wanted to bring a smile on the faces of these children, who will be on their hospital beds during Eid. We thank DP World for sponsoring this program, targeted at an important section of the society.”
The PCFC employees also visited an old age home in Dubai and offered Eid gifts to the inmates, who were overjoyed to receive these gifts.
PCFC is constantly involved in various programs that are aimed at enhancing its relationship with different sections of the society, and to encourage its employees to share in the joys and sorrows of the community.
