Take a journey through history, experience spiritual enlightenment, take an outdoor adventure or feel the power of nature by discovering the treasures of Jordan, with InterContinental Hotels Group’s special summer packages.
The ‘Discover Jordan’ campaign is an initiative from InterContinental Hotels Group within Jordan to further promote the Kingdom and its treasure chest of rare gems, with special summer rates starting from US$99 per room per night for two adults sharing a room. The ‘Discover Jordan’ packages are valid from mid-May to October 31st, 2006.
Furthermore, travellers who book in advance will be rewarded with additional benefits over and above the special summer room rates including buffet breakfast and late check-out until 4pm.
Regarded as an international tourist destination not to be missed, travellers are constantly lured to discover and unlock the hidden treasures within the Hashemite Kingdom, unforgettable and magical memories. For Middle East travellers the Kingdom is even more appealing as Jordan is just a short plane ride away from its neighbouring countries.
A land of beauty and contrasts, from the desert to the sea, history and culture, nature, as well as leisure and wellbeing – Jordan promises an experience of fun and adventure as a truly year-round destination.
With five properties in Jordan including an InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn in Amman, the InterContinental Aqaba and Crowne Plaza in Petra, travellers have a vast selection of accommodation options to choose from, with each property providing its own unique services for guests to discover and experience the captivating country.
“Jordan is a small country of tremendous diversity that includes stunning countryside, nature reserves, wildlife and birdlife,” explained Janet Abrahams, Area Director of Sales, InterContinental Hotels Group, Jordan and Palestine. “You can drive from Amman to the Dead Sea – the lowest point on Earth – inside 40 minutes and travel back more than 9,000 years in human history. All the great civilizations of the world have left their imprint on this Middle East crossroads.”
InterContinental Jordan
Located on the summit of one of Amman’s seven hills, the award-winning InterContinental Jordan is just a short taxi ride from Amman's most popular historical sites and is regarded as one of the city’s premier hotels.
The 440-room hotel features 22 executive suites, five business suites, five presidential suites, two diplomatic suites, two imperial suites and one royal suite.
The hotel also has its own Instant Service Centre, which acts as one central point of contact for all guest’s activities, inquiries and requests, whether it be information about the hotel’s seven dining outlets, directions to the Inter-Fit spa or selecting a “buffet tour” to some of the most famous sites.
Commenting on the various site-seeing options Abrahams added: “Jordan’s capital city Amman is naturally an entry point for most travellers and it offers some spectacular ancient sites. After a visit here you can understand why Jordan is often described as an open-air museum. Jerash, for example, is one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy.”
Crowne Plaza Amman
Occupying the highest point in the city of Amman, Crowne Plaza Amman has established itself as one of Amman's most popular hotels for leisure and business, as well as a regular meeting place with six varieties of restaurants, cafes and bars with Moroccan, Italian and International cuisine. The 279 guest room hotel provides a relaxing getaway from a day out, while some leisure travellers may prefer to slip into the hotel’s heated outdoor pool, which also encompasses a 500sqm upper terrace that overlooks the fitness centre.
Holiday Inn Amman
The third InterContinental Hotels Group property in the Jordan capital is the Holiday Inn Amman, located in western district and five minutes from various shopping areas, offers a dynamic meetings product for corporate groups and many organisers utilise the properties accessibility to extend the travel experience beyond business.
The property offers a fun and affordable choice for family getaways, with a selection of dining and entertainment options, as well as the recreational facilities including the outdoor swimming pool and bar, fitness centre, as well as sauna, Jacuzzi and spa.
InterContinental Aqaba
Outside of the city and crowning the peak of the Red Sea on the Gulf of Aqaba the InterContinental Aqaba hotel stretches the longest private beach in Aqaba measuring over 200m of sandy beach. The 255-room hotel, only a 10 minute taxi ride from King Hussein International Airport, opened its doors last year proving a popular option for adventure and leisure travellers. Regarded as Jordan’s year round aquatic playground, the thriving underwater marine life and crystal clear waters make diving conditions in Aqaba among the best in the world.
For the history enthusiast, Aqaba contains sites reflecting human habitation back to 4000 BC, resulting from the city’s strategic location at the junction of trading routes between Asia, Africa and Europe.
Crowne Plaza Petra
Wadi rum is 50km away and Petra is only 110km north of Aqaba, with InterContinental Hotels Group providing accommodation at the footsteps of the Rose City of Petra with Crowne Plaza Petra.
Surrounded by landscaped gardens, against the breathtaking Petra Mountains, the hotel is located just steps away from the “Siq” leading through the rocks to the dynamic city and its treasures. Crowne Plaza Petra provides 147 renovated rooms including one Royal suite and two junior suites as well as 31 hillside Chalets tucked into the Petra rock face.
Petra is the sort of place that usually exists only in the imagination and where seeing is indeed believing.
“With so much to discover in the Kingdom and with the selection of InterContinental Hotels Group properties offering competitive rates for visitors to enjoy Jordan in true comfort, the only decision left to be made is when to go,” concluded Abrahams.
