Damascus Radio on Wednesday criticized the United States "silence policy" regarding Israel's “terrorist crimes” against the Palestinians.

The state-run radio stressed that the US is turning a blind eye towards Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, while it is building up its military forces to launch a war against Iraq, which accepted UN Security Council resolution 1441 and welcomed the return of UN arms inspectors. “This is the utmost US bias to its ally Israel”, the radio said, according to SANA.

In its daily political commentary, the Syrian radio wondered if the Israeli practices come with international legitimacy, human rights and the Security Council’s resolutions, which protect civilians during war times, at a time Baghdad is being subject to the largest military build-up under the pretext it possesses weapons of mass destruction.

The UN resolution 1441 has come to dismiss the “war ghost” from Iraq, especially when Baghdad immediately responded to the resolution and positively cooperated with the first team of inspectors, which arrived in Baghdad, the radio added.

The radio also made clear that Syria has focused, during her contacts, on the necessity of following the best mechanisms to prevent a war against Iraq and moved Damascus in line with a strategic vision based on a multi-polar world, and not a unilateral one that imposes its domination all over the world.

The international community needs to move actively to restore the balance of the international policy by deepening a multi-polar world that puts an end to the United States unilateral policy on world issues, including the Arab region, the radio concluded. (Albawaba.com)
