Damascus Radio affirmed on Monday that the “terrorist (Israeli Prime Minister) Ariel Sharon couldn't abort the Palestinian Intifada” or uprising, which began over two years ago.
The state-run radio, in its daily political commentary, said that the continuation of the Israeli occupation, backed by Washington, “pushes” the region into further “explosion and insecurity”.
Cited by SANA, the Syrian radio said that security would not be realized “except by the Israeli commitment to the international legitimacy resolutions, Madrid terms of reference and land for peace principle”.
Furthermore, the radio indicated the United States’ responsibility, as the greatest country in the world, which declares commitment to international legitimacy resolutions, however practices a policy which “doesn't connect saying with action”, thus encouraging Israel to escalate its “bloody terrorist practices”.
The radio, in addition, cited the vanishing of any active direction towards a realization of the just and comprehensive peace in the region due to Israel’s enmity to peace, its rejection to implement United Nations Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 and to return to the June 4, 1967 line.
“If the US didn't give up the double standard policy and exerted serious efforts for the implementation of the UN resolutions relevant to the struggle in the region, the situation in the region would remain in an exploded state”, the radio concluded. (Albawaba.com)
