A three-day conference on Egyptian women and the national plan organized by the National Council for Women will be held next Tuesday, March 13.

The conference will mark the first anniversary of the establishment of the National Council for Women and will discuss two working papers, the first of which will tackle the status of Egyptian women over the recent years, according to the organizers.

The report is currently under preparation to serve as an accurate reference on Egyptian women and the problems they face. The report will be released annually thereafter, they said.

The second document will discuss the forthcoming Egyptian government five-year plan (2002-2007).

Along with the conference, various workshops will be held to discuss the woman’s status in the fields of law, education, information, economy, health and culture.

President Hosni Mubarak’s spouse, Suzan will be patron of the conference, which will attract the participation of representatives of national associations concerned with women issues in addition to official agencies and public figures.
