The General Committee for Bahraini Workers (GCBW) has started preparing the draft law and structure for a labor union that will represent Bahraini workers, reported the daily Bahrain Tribune on Saturday.
Bahrain’s emir, Sheikh Hamad Al Khalifa, ordered the establishment of the union in early April, following the resolution of the isles dispute with Qatar by the International Court of Justice in mid-March.
The union idea is aimed at defending and maintaining the rights of workers and improving their work environment, said an official.
The GCBW had agreed in previous meetings to intensify efforts to establish a draft law for a labor union in line with Arab and international agreements and treaties, he told the paper – Albawaba.com
