A Briton disguised as a woman was arrested in Dubai's Gold Souq carrying an air pistol and a fake bomb, Dubai police said Monday, quoted in a report by Gulf News.
Police became suspicious of the man when an officer spotted underclothing usually worn by national men peeping out from under a woman's "abayah," or traditional garb, on Sunday morning, the report said.
When the police stopped the "woman" for questioning, they quickly realized that she was actually a man.
A top police officer told the paper that the Briton had an air pistol, pieces of carton rolled up to resemble dynamite, and a remote control when he was arrested. The suspect claimed that he had bought the costume and worn it as a surprise for his wife. He also claimed that he did not know that men were not allowed to dress in women's clothing in the UAE, the officer said - Albawaba.com
