British Prime Minister Tony Blair warned Iran on Thursday not to shelter any al-Qaeda members. "We have said very clearly to the Iranian government that harboring al-Qaeda would be entirely unacceptable," Blair told reporters at his monthly Downing Street press conference.

"I hope very much, if they are indeed harboring al-Qaeda operatives, that they yield them up because these people are dangerous people," Blair said.

On Wednesday, the US accused Tehran of harboring al Qaeda members and said Iranian leaders had a responsibility to prevent terrorists from entering and operating in the country. "There's no question but that there have been and are today senior al Qaeda leaders in Iran, and they are busy" plotting attacks, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was quoted as saying.
