British Prime Minister Tony Blair flies to Washington for talks with US President George W. Bush on Thursday.

The British leader is expected to discuss with his US counterpart, among other issues, Iraq and the Middle East peace process.

Blair will use an historic speech to the US Congress to argue that America and Europe should do all they can to work together, the BBC reported.

Blair is also being called upon to use the trip to push for two UK “terror suspects” held at Guantanamo Bay to be returned to Britain for a possible trial.

The father of Moazzam Begg, one of the men being held, told the BBC on Thursday that Blair must use the meeting to convince the US leader they would get a proper trial in the UK.

Ongoing attacks on occupation troops in Iraq are also likely to form part of Blair's private talks with the US President. (Albawaba.com)
