A ‘quiet day’ of contemplation will be led by the Rt. Reverend Clive Handford, Anglican bishop in Cyprus and the Gulf on March 23 in Awali. The bishop will be visiting Bahrain from March 19 to 26l, reported Bahrain Tribune.

Beginning at 11am in Awali Community Hall, the prelate will center his Lenten meditation on promise. The day of prayer is part of the Christian church’s observance of the Lent season.

At 12.15 pm, a second homily, on covenant, will be presented while the bishop’s concluding talk on commitment at Awali Church will be held from 2pm. The quiet day ends with communion.

Refreshments and a light lunch are part of the four-hour meditative period. While most participants will attend the entire program, some may choose to take part in a particular segment.

Bishop Handford will also officiate at services on March 21 and March 25 at St Christopher’s Cathedral.

Handford is former Bishop of Warwick, Church of England, and was elected Bishop of Cyprus and The Gulf, the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East in 1996. He succeeds the Rt Revd John Brown who retired -- Albawaba.com
