Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak on Monday ordered the Israeli army to take "necessary steps" to counter the latest outbreak of violence in the occupied territories, a senior Israeli official said.
Barak, on a visit to Chicago after meeting US President Bill Clinton in Washington Sunday, was responding to the shooting deaths of three Israelis earlier Monday in the West Bank.
Barak "seized the violation of agreements on the Palestinian side as grave and instructed the Israeli army to take necessary steps," Gilead Sher, Barak's bureau chief and policy coordinator, told journalists -- CHICAGO (AFP)
