The Kingdom of Bahrain's high court has sentenced a 48-year-old man to life in prison for marrying a 13-year-old girl he made pregnant out of wedlock, a newspaper reported Monday.
In addition, the unnamed man was charged with adultery as he was already married to one of the girl's relatives, who reported the matter to authorities when the girl became pregnant, the Gulf Daily News said, cited by AFP.
Under Islamic Sharia law applied in the Bahraini Kingdom, the legal age for a girl to get married is 16. (Albawaba.com)
