More than 270 high school students from Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon in addition to the hosting country, Bahrain, will take part in the three-day Seventh Annual Bahrain Model United Nations (Bahmun VII), reported Gulf Daily News.
The event is organized by Adliya Rotary club and is sponsored by Labor and Social Ministry, said the daily.
Rotary Club of Adliya public relations co-ordinator and Bahmun organizing committee chairman Mohammed Hasani, were quoted as saying that “the international participants will stay with various Bahrain School students in their homes.”
Although the meeting opens on Wednesday evening, the real work doesn’t begin until Thursday. The participants will take part in UN general assembly negotiations from 8.30am to noon, continued the daily.
The Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) will discuss the debt crisis affecting developing nations; economic sanctions; over-fishing; world population control and sustainable development; and alternative resources and economic development.
During the meeting, two students will also be selected to visit the UN in New York, US, before the end of the year, said the report —Albawaba.com
