As part of AmCham’s initiative to improve and strengthen the relationship between US and Bahraini companies, Fifteen Bahrain American Chamber of Commerce members attended a luncheon with Mr. William H. Lash, III, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce. The luncheon was also attended by H.E. William T. Monroe, the US Ambassador to Bahrain and discussed the US-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement and the Economic Partnership.
The luncheon took place on May 21st at the Bahrain Ritz Carlton Hotel & Spa, and was sponsored by Computer World.
Bahrain AmCham was officially launched in April 6th 2005. It reflects the US’s commitment to encouraging trade and investment between America and Bahrain.
The new chamber is expected to lead to a closer working relationship with Bahraini businesses and that it will act as a catalyst for the Free Trade Agreement in order to enhance the common economic interests of the businesses in both Bahrain and the US.

Mr. William H. Lash, III was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance, July 25, 2001. In this position, Assistant Secretary Lash and his team work to ensure that foreign governments fully comply with the more than 250 trade agreements the United States has signed. He is particularly committed to the protection of U.S. investments and intellectual property rights and aggressively engages in the solving of commercial disputes involving foreign governments. Assistant Secretary Lash also chairs the Department's Iraq and Afghanistan Reconstruction Task Forces, which provide information and resources to businesses interested in participating in reconstruction efforts and commerce in these two countries. He also serves as the United States Economic Commissioner to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
