Building Better Business Decisions (B3D), a strategic business division of Wafi C&TS that specialises in providing Business Intelligence (BI) consulting and technical solutions, has announced its support as the Principal Partner of the Middle East Balanced Scorecard Forum 2007, organised by the Institute for International Research (IIR), to be held from 25 February to 1 March, 2007 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai, UAE. World-renowned Harvard Business Professor Dr Robert Kaplan will deliver a full day programme on managing alignment during the inaugural day of the forum.

The Middle East Balanced Scorecard Forum 2007 provides a unique opportunity to develop effective business strategies that are essential to the success of all organisations. International and regional best practice case studies will highlight how an individual’s BSC can successfully become the backbone of the planning process, providing the vital link between strategy, strategic objectives, major initiatives, compensation schemes and the budget to result in continuous growth in business and improvement in operations, as well as increased customer satisfaction.

“The potential benefits of a Balanced Scorecard depend on what it is to be used for. Simply having a Balanced Scorecard is not enough - the Scorecard will only be useful if it is applied correctly. Although different types of organisations are using Balanced Scorecard in many different formats, there are two distinct applications: Management Control and Strategic Control. Although visually similar, these two applications of Balanced Scorecard require substantially different design and development processes, and provide different benefits to a management team,” said Laurent Grandisson, Business Development Manager - B3D.

A highlight of the five-day Forum will be the guru day presented by Dr Robert Kaplan, an internationally reputed expert who has co-authored four landmark books on BSC, describing how it works and outlining best practice for its implementation. Together, these books have transformed the business strategy landscape and made him one of the most renowned speakers in the fields of business strategy and leadership.

The forum will also host four highly interactive workshops designed to give practical solutions from the design concept right through to sustaining and modifying participants’ BSC after the launch – ‘Development of the BSC up to the launch’; ‘Achieve unique competitive advantage by becoming a strategy focused organization’; ‘Effective using and sustaining the BSC after it has been launched’ and ‘Leveraging the human capital in the organisation to ensure a successful BSC’. Leading organisations such as Riyad Bank, Saudi German Hospital Group, Dubai eGovernment, ADNOC, The Emirates Group, among others will be participating in the Forum.

“We are delighted to welcome B3D as the principal partner of the BSC Forum 2007. Given Dubai’s position as a key business hub of the Middle East region and being the regional headquarters for several of the top business conglomerates, holding this event in Dubai adds to its significance. Very often, it is effective strategising that differentiates the good from the best and the Balanced Scorecard Forum 2007 will present new dimensions of strategy building to participants,” said Farzaneh Majed, Divisional Director, IIR Middle East.

“We believe that the Middle East Balanced Scorecard Forum 2007 will be an extremely successful event as the forum will offer a platform for debate and interaction with leading industry experts. It will bring together like-minded professionals with the expertise to ensure an interesting and tangibly beneficial experience,” concluded Grandisson.
