ANONYMOUS CORPORATE BENEFACTOR FUNDS RIAYDH’S FIRST FEMALE CHARITY AUCTION IN AID OF DSCA (Down syndrome Charitable Association)

On Thursday the 27th of May 2006 over 150 ladies came along to the Supermodel Café in the Ladies Kingdom in the Kingdom Mall, Riyadh, for the KSA’s first female charitable auction in Riyadh with all the proceeds going to DSCA.  A charity that aims to serve individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.  Riyadh’s well heeled and fashion loving bided frantically and reached fever pitch as the ladies bided frantically for one of only five of the most exclusive mobile phones in the world.  The Motorola RAZR V3 “Liquid Gold” designed by the world most glamorous Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana and not available in the Kingdom.  Only 1000 phones were ever made, owned by some of the world’s top celebrities including Madonna, US host Oprah and film star Brad Pitt, these sought after designer delights raised and a vast amount for the charity on the night.  A huge cheque will be handed over by the company’s on Wednesday the 10th of May to some of the DSCA children who were present at the auction and helped in the proceedings.

The entire evening was funded by a young anonymous Saudi corporate benefactor, who is in the process of launching a new handset retail business in the Kingdom. Ms Rania Murad, the spokesperson for the company stated “we are delighted to be supporting DSCA as it is a great charity, doing wonderful work throughout the Kingdom, as part of our business strategy we will be engaging in many more projects like this one.   She continues “We are very fortunate to have such high quality donations and I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the company who is supporting the event including Motorola and the Supermodel Cafe for allowing us to use their venue as an auction room”.

 

Since Monday the 20th of May a stand in the Ladies Kingdom showcased the phone and the demand was phenomenal, each evening the stand was packed with prospective bidders making offers there and then for these exclusive pieces of designer technology.

On behalf of everyone at the charity and the people it serves and supports, we would like to extend a huge thank you the company who made this possible, this is truly humble act and we wish them all the success they deserve.
