Jordan has eased restrictions on Palestinian travel to the kingdom, which were imposed in March for fear of an influx of refugees escaping the Israeli incursion into the West Bank.

Information Minister Mohammad Affash Adwan said Sunday that the eased measures, in effect for the last four days, were a show of "solidarity with our Palestinian brethren and to help alleviate their suffering."

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Omar Khatib, a representative of the Palestinian Authority, said the eased travel at the Jordan River border linking the kingdom with the West Bank followed a mechanism laid out by Palestinian Interior Ministry officials and their Jordanian counterparts five days ago.
