Local authorities in Amman put six residential buildings in lockdown after an outbreak of COVID-19 was detected, states news agency Petra reported.
Governor Saad Shehab said the buildings were subjected to sterilization to prevent the further spread of the virus, and necessary precautions were taken to bar entry and exit.
A medical team performed swab tests for residents of the buildings, which were located in five different neighborhoods.
Jordan’s education ministry meanwhile issued a guideline for the use of face masks as students and school staff return to campus.
The ministry said the use of face masks will depend on the state of coronavirus infections, as well as on the well-being of teachers and students who have risk factors.
Students with coronavirus symptoms, including high temperature, fatigue and sore throat should stay at home, the ministry said, while reiterating social distancing rules in campuses and school buses.
