Saddam Hussein's cousin, who gave the deposed Iraqi leader's sons sanctuary then betrayed them for US$30 million, American sources confirmed Thursday.
U.S. officials told NBC News, that the cousin, Nawaf al-Zaydan Muhammad was the owner of the house where the brothers were killed. Col. Joe Anderson, a brigade commander in the 101st Airborne Division, said Wednesday that the tipster was in protective custody in Iraq. When asked why, he said: “People know who owns the house, so that’s a factor.”
Meanwhile, U.S. military and CIA officers in Iraq are receiving and trying to verify a significant increase in the number of Saddam Hussein sightings by Iraqi citizens, according to a senior administration decision maker.
"We are getting a lot of different sightings every day," the official was quoted as saying by the Thursday's edition of the Washington Post. (Albawaba.com)
