The Red Bull Middle East 25 Hour Karting, organized by SportsStars in collaboration with the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), announced that an all-female team from Kuwait, known as the “Karting Angels” have confirmed their participation in the endurance event.
The Karting Angels have been training rigorously and are very enthusiastic about taking part, for the second year in a row, at the upcoming Red Bull Middle East 25-hour Karting, which will be taking place in Bahrain at the Seef Go-Karting Track on 8th of December starting at 4pm, and will continue until 5pm the next day.
The Karting Angels will be the only female entrants in the Bahrain race, and they are competing this year with a team that comprises of 11 members from Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria and Hungary. Last year, this all-girls team completed the race successfully and was awarded a special prize for their participation.
“We are really looking forward to the Bahrain race,” said Mai Ammouneh, Karting Angels Team Captain “After competing last year, the girls loved it so much that we decided to compete again this year" Ammouneh continued.
Asked how Karting became part of her life, Ammouneh said, “At first it was something we tried out for fun, but the support and encouragement we received from Red Bull was incredible, and what started out as a group of women casually dabbling in a new sport has now turned into a phenomenal team of full-blown karting enthusiasts!”
Ahmed Shehi, a SportStars representative said that organizers were thrilled upon receiving confirmation of the female team’s participation. “I have seen the Karting Angels compete in Bahrain last year and they are an exceptional group of determined young women! This will certainly be a unique occasion and their participation is a true testament of the evolution of sports in this region, and its movement towards international benchmarks” commented Shehi.
Participating teams include winning teams from the different stops of the Red Bull Middle East 25 Hour Karting, like Al Wataniya Upright Racing Team, the Kuwait Race Winner; UnStoppabulls, the Jordan Race Winner; Batelco, the Dubai Race Winner, as well as Michael Craven's Team, Thunder Arabia, GOYS, Upright Racing Team, UCB Falcons, Canadian University, BIC, Gulf weekly, and last but not least The Karting Angels.
Al-Watania Upright Racing Team, a team of Bahraini local professional Karting racers, who only joined as a team less than one year ago said in an interview with the team captain Bader Haidar, "We look forward to racing this year in the Red Bull Middle East 25-hour Karting taking place on our race track in Bahrain, and hope to be able to be number one!".
The team has recently arrived back to Bahrain after participating in the Rotex world final race held in Portugal, and have already started training for the new challenge.
“The team members are really enthusiastic about the endurance challenge and have been training hard since their return to Bahrain. The 2006 Red Bull Middle East 25 Hour Karting Race is one of the toughest races, as it requires a lot of strategy, focus and stamina,” commented Hamad, a team member. “The team is very confident they know the track well as it’s home ground, and the strong sense of camaraderie among them is incredibly inspiring!” Hamad added.
