Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika arrived Wednesday in New Delhi on a six-day official visit, the first since he became president two years ago, reported Kuwait's News Agency (KUNA).
The agency said that he will attend a celebration ceremony on India's liberation day.
The president, heading a delegation that includes ministers of foreign affairs, finance and commerce, will hold talks with senior Indian officials on ways of strengthening bilateral ties in the fields of trade and industry, said KUNA.
India is one of Algeria's major trade partners.
President Bouteflika has been toiling to reintroduce his country to the world as a good environment for investment. But failure of his "national concord" program t stop to stop the nine-year bloodshed that has stood an obstacle for his ambitions.
