Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has said it tried and failed to kill Matthew Tueller, the U.S. ambassador to Yemen last week, AFP reported Sunday.
Two bombs intended to attack Tueller were discovered before they were timed to explode, the report said. He had been visiting the house of President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi.
AFP said there had been no official confirmation of the attempt.
