The Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Wednesday held talks with the Syrian President, Bashar al Assad and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara latest.
Following their meeting, Shara stressed the "importance of enhancing Arab stances to confront the existing challenges faced by the Arab World at this very critical stage," SANA quoted him as saying.
The talks also dealt with topics related to the next Arab summit.
On his part, Moussa told reporters that his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad was "very constructive," adding that talks centered on several topics, especially the current situation in the region.
The AL Chief said that President Assad expressed his support for convening of the Arab summit as soon as possible during May, as well as the need to have appropriate preparations for the summit and "ending all needed wording in a way that makes it a success."
Answering a question on the role of the UN in Iraq, Moussa said the international organization must have the biggest role in that country and should play a prominent, positive role in light of the troubled situation between the Iraqi people and the occupation troops.
