Manager of Corporate Security at Air Arabia, Imad Raad, recently completed the certification for Aviation Security Professional Manager successfully from the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University. Raad was recently awarded the title by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) jointly with the International Centre for Aviation Management Education and Research (ICAMER).
The ICAO award for Aviation Security Management Professional Manager (AVSEC PMC), currently awarded to only 130 people worldwide is the most advanced aviation security program in existence today; hence it is the highest certification in aviation security.
The four month course covers many areas of the aviation business such as project management, legal aspects of aviation, finance and budgeting, design of airport security systems, Human Resources, security controls and screening at airports amongst other subjects.
“I am proud to be one of the few people worldwide holding this award. Due to its high standards and status, whoever passes this is equipped to handle all areas of aviation security. Undoubtedly, I would not have been able to achieve this award without the support of my team at Air Arabia who gave me their support as well as time to prepare for the course,” said Raad.
The course is a requirement for all security post holders in the UAE. It has been compulsory to the airline industry in the UAE in order to upgrade and maintain the aviation security standard in the region.
Air Arabia’s CEO, content with the achievement of his senior staff commented: “We are very proud to have an internationally recognized professional in this field as a part of our team. Imad has been working very hard to achieve this certification and by doing so, he has given our company another reason to encourage our staff to keep on developing their skills”.
Raad, who cumulated his duties at Air Arabia and the preparation for the course dedicated 3 to 4 hours daily to reach his target, says: “I am not limiting myself just to the AVSEC PMC award. Today more than ever before, aviation security plays a critical role and is a primary area of focus and concern. Having completed this program, I aim to take another subject which is the ICAO International Auditor Recognition to achieve the status of ICAO International auditor.”
Air Arabia encourages all members of their staff to participate in internationally recognized aviation courses to ensure the quality of service complies with worldwide standards in the airline industry.
