Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) on Sunday organized its annual ceremony to pay tribute to its employees for their outstanding performance.

ACT Chairman Imad Fakhoury and ACT CEO Patricio Junior headed the ceremony, which was attended by more than 500 people and included distinguished guests from outside the company.

“This ceremony presents an opportunity to voice our appreciation for our employees who worked so hard to elevate the company’s performance and meet international standards, therefore, always fulfilling our customers’ need for quality service,” Junior said.

“Much of the human capacity we see today is a direct result of ACT’s belief and investment in employee training. The level of these training sessions has helped equip our employees with high-quality skills needed for our line of business,” he further commented.

Looking at its excellent growth record and achievements, Junior went on to say that ACT can truly be considered the pride of Aqaba city. “ACT has successfully managed to increase its productivity and efficiency in handling exports and imports as well as loading and unloading of containers. This performance did not go unnoticed as the company recently received recognition as the second best container terminal in the entire Middle East at the first annual Middle East Logistics Award 2006.”

Mr. Junior and Mr. Fakhouri handed certificates to the employees in recognition of their hard work and commitment. ACT CEO afterwards presented plaques to a number of key persons and institutions that support ACT.

The dinner ceremony included a presentation delivered by ACT’s Human Resources Department, reflecting its plans to realize the company’s objectives. It also reviewed the training courses that were delivered to the employees to enhance their aptitude and increase their industry knowledge. The presentation discussed GTDP, a training course applied by ACT’s mother company APM Terminals that also looks at developing workforce.

Furthermore, ACT honored employees who won the competition that ran in the company’s internal newsletter. It also honored innovative employees who exerted training material for their colleagues at the engineering department, and recognized the efforts of two trainers.

“Our slogan ‘Where People Make the Difference’ perfectly embodies ACT’s corporate philosophy as the company’s employees are indeed the driving force behind the various achievements. It is in that sense that we always feel obliged to thank them for their special efforts,” Patricio concluded.
