Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas has stated in a television interview that he does not seek a second term in office. "No, no, (I) complete my current mandate, if I succeed in that," Abbas told Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television when asked if he would run again when his four-year term expires in 2009.

Abbas said "Others should be given a chance," he said, adding it was time for the next generation -- "the children and grandchildren" -- to take up political power.

On Monday Abbas met Jordan's King Abdullah, who said his country Jordan would utilize all its international relations to find suitable ways to convey aids for the Palestinian People.

King Abdullah stressed, during the meeting his refusal for unilateral solutions, describing them as not contributing to achieving the just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, Petra reported.

King Abdullah said that Jordan in coordination with Egypt will exert efforts on the international level to support resuming the peace process and build confidence between the Palestinians and Israelis.
