ALBAWABA- At least 33 people, including several children, were killed and over sixty were injured in a stampede during a campaign rally for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-politician Vijay in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district on Saturday.

The crush erupted amid severe overcrowding and a brief power outage, forcing many attendees to collapse as Vijay addressed the gathering. His speech was abruptly halted as panic spread through the crowd.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the tragedy “deeply saddening,” offering condolences to the victims’ families and prayers for the injured. 

Chief Minister MK Stalin described the incident as “deeply concerning” and ordered emergency medical response.
