ALBAWABA - In one of the deadliest attacks in southwestern Pakistan, a bunch of gunmen identified 23 people abducted them from their buses, vehicles, and trucks, and fatally shot them.
Senior police official Ayub Achakzai told AP that the tragic incident took place overnight in Musakhail, a district in Baluchistan province, where they burned 10 vehicles before fleeing the area.
In separate remarks, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and President Asif Ali Zardari referred to the incident as "barbaric" and promised that those responsible would face punishment.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident, which occurred hours after the banned Baluch Liberation Army separatist organization issued a warning to the public to avoid the routes.
In an effort to evict workers and other residents in the eastern Punjab area of the country, Baluchistan separatists have frequently used violence against them. The province has been experienced by a low-level insurgency for years.
