2 killed in surprise attack on a checkpoint in Latakia, Syria

ALBAWABA- A surprise attack on a military checkpoint in the city of Latakia, Syria leads to the killing of two members of the Military Operations Department.

Al Arabiya sources reported on Wednesday that an attack took place on a security checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Jableh in Latakia.

It also indicated the killing of two members of the Military Operations Department, which is affiliated with the new Syrian administration, which took over power on December 8 toppling the former Syrian regime.

The "Military Operations" announced weeks ago the launch of a campaign to settle the status of former members of the Syrian army in various areas of Latakia.

The new administration launched campaigns searching for remnants of the former regime in several governorates. Meanwhile, hundreds of soldiers and officers, who had been working with the former regime, surrendered themselves to settle their status.
