18 killed in road accident south of Cairo

A minibus and a truck collided head-on in southern Egypt Friday, killing all 18 people aboard the bus, police said. 

 

The crash occurred on a highway about 375 kilometers south of Cairo, near the city of Assiut. 

 

According to AP, the driver and 17 passengers of the minibus, which was heading to Cairo, were killed. The truck driver was hospitalized in critical condition. Police said both vehicles were traveling too fast, but did not provide other details on the cause of the crash.
