ALBAWABA- Israeli warplanes carried out at least 12 airstrikes on Yemen’s strategic Hodeidah port on Wednesday, targeting three docks in a move Israeli media say is designed to disable the facility for weeks.
Channel 12, citing an Israeli source, reported that the strikes aimed to disrupt the port’s operations, a vital lifeline for millions of Yemenis.
Ahead of the bombardment, the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings on social media, with spokesperson Avichay Adraee posting a map of the targeted area and urging civilians to leave “in light of the military activities carried out by the terrorist Houthi regime there.”
The latest strikes mark a major escalation in Israel’s campaign against Yemeni infrastructure.
In recent weeks, Israeli jets have bombed power plants, cement factories, fuel depots, and residential neighborhoods.
Deadly raids on Sana’a last week hit press offices, the national museum, and the densely populated Al-Tahrir Square, killing at least 48 people and wounding around 150, while flattening nearby buildings.
The escalation follows one of the deadliest attacks on Houthi leadership to date, when Israeli strikes targeted a Cabinet meeting in Sana’a, killing the prime minister, nine ministers, and several senior officials.
In response, Houthi forces launched missile attacks on Israel, intensifying the cycle of retaliatory strikes that now threatens to further destabilize the region.
