MoF delegation visits Accountants and Auditors Association in Sharjah

In line with the Ministry of Finance’s (MoF) efforts to continually develop financial control and internal auditing practices applied in local and federal government entities, and ensuring that they are on par with global standards, a delegation from the Joint Internal Audit Sector at MoF visited the Accountants and Auditors Association in Sharjah (AAA – Sharjah) on June 2, 2011. Headed by HE Ahmed Mahmoud Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Internal Audit Sector at MoF, the meeting between the two entities was held to discuss best practices pertaining to financial control and methods to enhance collaboration efforts.
The MoF delegation was received by Ali Khalil Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Head of Training and Continuing Professional Education Committee at AAA – Sharjah. The meeting was also attended by several MoF members, including Massoud Hussein Al Marzouqi, Head of the Financial Control Office, Kholoud Abdullah bin Ghalitah, Head of Financial Control for Ministries of Social Affairs, Laila Ghanem Al Owaym, Head of Financial Control for Ministries of Infrastructure, and Hiba Ghazi Abu Zarqah, Internal Auditor. On Behalf of AAA – Sharjah, the meeting was attended by Souad Mohammad Al Hosany, Head of the Membership Committee, Malek Mohammad Mahdawi, Executive Director, and Reem Mousa’ad Al Rabei’i, Training Officer.
HE Al Hammadi stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between MoF and all specialized financial entities and authorities in the UAE, during the meeting.
“MoF has always sought to develop collaborative efforts with the various local and federal authorities specialized in financial control and internal auditing in the country. Developing strong ties between our entities is vital in securing the optimum use of financial resources and in enhancing a sustainable and balanced development of the UAE,” Al Hammadi said.
“Our visit to the Accountants and Auditors Association follows our overall strategy and aims of raising the standards of financial control practices set in government sectors to international standards. We therefore seek to establish cooperative efforts with the Association to benefit from its ability to develop the performance of auditors through professional development and continuing education programs, in addition to specialized financial training courses,” he added.
Ali Khalil Al Shamsi welcomed MoF’s visit and indicated that the move was important in enhancing the role of the association at a national level. Al Shamsi added that the AAA- Sharjah constantly aims to establish strategic partnerships with public institutions in efforts to best serve its members, the accounting, financial control and auditing sectors and the community at large.
