The door to everything 

I have been asked to write about my memories of Homs, the city where my parents were born, the one which for many years meant Syria to me and which sadly has become the prey of all human cruelties.

The first image which came to my mind, not without mixed feelings nostalgia and pain, was my grandparents’ house. Above all, I remembered the happiness and excitement that used to fill my heart when I arrived at the front door, after a long year of anticipation. It represented everything to me. The enchanting scent of the jasmine flowers that framed it, carefully tended to by my grandfather, is engraved in me forever.

The ultimate guide to dealing with garbage in Lebanon

4- If you risk getting caught, build a small catapult, install it on the roof and throw your garbage to your neighbor’s roof.
5- Urinate to mark your “garbage” territory so that no one else throws trash in your spot.

Neon on the Nile
 
One of Egyptian star Mahmoud Ellithy's songs from 2014 comes blasting through a speaker set up at the back of Messi, a boat afloat on the Nile.  Passengers crowed the deck while the singer's voice gets carried away on the water.  The river reflects the darkness of the sky, and ripples with fragments of neon yellows, pinks, greens, and blues.
