ALBAWABA - Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics reported that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit Egypt early Monday morning.
According to the institute, the quake struck 38 km north of the Egyptian city of Suez just after 3:00 a.m. local time.
Authorities in Egypt had received no reports of casualties or property damage. However, videos were shared on social media showing buildings, cars and materials moving from side to side during the quake.
Egypt Today, a local media outlet, reported Monday that emergency teams, hospitals and ambulances were set on alert.
The tremor was recorded at a magnitude of about 5.5, according to data attributed to the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.
