Tamer Hosny was plunged into mourning after the death of his father, the artist Hosny Sherif, on Friday, following a battle with illness. This marked the end of the journey of one of the artists of the 1960s generation who had stayed away from the spotlight for many years. Tamer received a flood of condolences from his fans and colleagues in the artistic community.
Tamer Hosny announced the news of his father's passing on his official social media accounts, writing: "To God we belong and to Him we shall return. My beloved father is in God's care. I ask you to pray for him and recite Al-Fatiha. May God have mercy on you, my beloved."
The Fate of His North Coast and Jerash Concerts
Simultaneously with the announcement of his father's death, the company organizing Tamer Hosny's concert on the North Coast issued a statement confirming the cancellation of the performance, which was scheduled for Friday evening as part of the "Yalla Sahel" festival, as a sign of mourning for his father.
The statement read: "Official Statement... With deep sorrow and grief, TH Production mourns the passing of the father of artist Tamer Hosny, the late Hosny Sherif Abbas, may God have mercy on him, who passed away today. We ask God Almighty to grant him His vast mercy, to place him in His spacious Paradise, and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.
Due to this painful human circumstance, the company announces the postponement of the opening ceremony of the 'Yalla Sahel' Festival in New Alamein City, which was scheduled for today, Friday, July 31, as well as the postponement of the Jerash Festival in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which was scheduled for Sunday, August 2, to new dates that will be announced as soon as possible."
The statement continued: "The company also extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the public, the organizers of the Yalla Sahel initiative, the Jerash Festival management, and all organizing bodies and partners for their understanding and cooperation during this exceptional time.
We ask God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased, grant him a place in Paradise, and give his family, loved ones, and fans patience and solace. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return."
Sources close to Tamer Hosny confirmed the cancellation of his participation in the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts in Jordan after he was forced to cut short rehearsals for his concert on the North Coast and return to Cairo immediately after his father's health deteriorated. His father passed away a few hours later.

Hosny Sherif had been hospitalized in recent hours after suffering a severe health crisis and received medical care in the intensive care unit before his condition worsened and he passed away.
This wasn't his first health crisis. He had previously suffered several health setbacks in recent years, most notably in 2015 when he experienced a severe spike in blood sugar that led to a coma and a suspected stroke. He also suffered another health crisis in 2020 that required hospitalization before his condition improved.

Hosni Sherif Abbas Farghali is one of the singers and actors who emerged on the artistic scene during the 1960s and 70s before disappearing from the spotlight for many years. His name has resurfaced following the great success of his son, artist Tamer Hosny.
He began his artistic career in the 1960s, acting in several films until the late 1980s. Among his most notable films are "Gedaan Haretna" (1965), "Masoud Saeed Leh," "Kadabeen El Zaffa" (1986), and "El Gawaza Di Mesh Lazem Temmem" (1988).
He released several songs throughout his career, including the popular "Min Zayak Min" and "Limaza A'eesh." He also performed religious chants in the television series "El Haramlek."
He married Fatima El Sabbagh, with whom he had two sons, Tamer Hosny and his older brother Hossam. They separated when Tamer was seven years old, which meant the artist grew up with his mother and began working at a young age to support her.
