ALBAWABA - Following its appearance in PlayStation's State of Play, Phantom Blade Zero has been delayed from September 9 to October 29, pushing its official release date back two months, according to developer S-Game.
CEO and game creator Soulframe confirmed the news in a lengthy statement on X (formerly Twitter) that read, "First of all, I want to offer my sincere apologies to all the players who have been following and supporting us."
Soulframe added that they don't want to release Phantom Blade Zero "knowing there is still an opportunity to take it one step further." They revealed that the team is working hard on polishing the game by upgrading character models, reworking environments, and putting additional effort into preserving the title's visual identity without relying on ray tracing.
Phantom Blade Zero delayed following State of Play
They added that while a 50-day delay won't solve all the game's problems, it will give the team enough time to make important improvements. Soulframe also revealed that a new gameplay trailer will release alongside pre-orders and a dedicated 20-minute State of Play.
"After pre-order opens, we will also have a dedicated State of Play focused entirely on Phantom Blade Zero: a 15-to-20-minute deep dive into the game’s world, combat, exploration, and character progression systems. The vast majority of what we show there will be brand-new."
The delay sparked mixed reactions on social media, with fans either praising S-Game for their commitment, while others stated that the game's reputation might be crushed by other games releasing near it, including Rockstar's GTA VI.

To many fans, the delay was a sigh of relief because many titles are releasing in September this year, such as Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, Silent Hill Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and The Blood of Dawnwalker.
A social media user wrote on X, "Bruh…. Yall are coming out after Wolverine & Call of Duty, after Onimusha, after Silent Hill…. And right before GTA6???? What are yall thinking!? You guys are about to get CRUSHED. You need to come out in August or Early September where you will have a better chance. Oct 29th is business suicide. Consumers only have so much money to spend."
Another wrote, "'For the players who choose to join us on day one, we believe they deserve the best version of Phantom Blade Zero we can deliver from the very beginning.' I love this, take the time you need and deliver the best experience possible for day one fans!"
