Well, it was bound to happen.
Actor Jim Carrey (The Mask, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show) left acting—temporarily or permanently, it’s unknown—and accidentally took-up a career in painting. But when he showed-up at the New York Fashion Week last night, Catt Sadler from E! News hoped to score an interview.
But Carrey isn’t there to celebrate fashion; he’s there to disparage it.
“There’s no meaning to any of this,” Carrey says. “So I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and here I am.”
When Sadler suggests they’re here to “celebrate icons,” Carrey says, “Boy, that is just the absolute lowest aiming possibility we could come up with. Do you believe in icons?”
Her expression as she realises what she’s gotten herself into is the stuff of poetry.

Carrey then turns to the camera and says, “I don’t believe in icons. I don’t believe in personalities. I believe that peace lies beyond personalities, beyond invention and disguise, beyond the red ‘S’ that you wear on your chest, that makes bullets bounce off. I believe that it’s deeper than that. I believe we’re a field of energy dancing for itself, and, uh, I don’t care.”
“It’s not our world,” Carrey added. “We don’t matter. That’s the good news.”
We’re guessing he won’t be returning to acting, no.
