Anyone care to remember the song When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going from the mid-80s Hollywood blockbuster Jewel of the Nile, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner? For those who came in late, this song was an anthem for the youth back in the day. Sung by soul and Motown legend Billy Ocean, the song was a major international hit reaching No.1 on the UK charts and No. 2 on the Billboard.
This weekend, the hitmaker is coming to town to liven things up at Taste of Dubai taking place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, on Thursday.
It was Ocean's Caribbean Queen (1984) that catapulted him into limelight. The song won him a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal, and Ocean even made it to the record books by the becoming the first British artist ever to win in that category. Needless to say the track became a No. 1 hit around the globe and was a dance hall favourite. Even today, if you listen to the track (on YouTube), you will easily get hooked to the song's infectious groove.
We are also looking forward to hearing all of his romantic ballads including Suddenly, There Will be Sad Songs, Love Zone as well as the uptempo Get Outta my Dreams, Get into My Car. The festival's line-up also features local act such as 4THEMUSIC, The Maplejacks, The Boxtones, Juke Box and London-based DJ Carlone.
The three-day festival, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, features a stellar line-up of celebrity chefs including Gary Rhodes, Michel Roux Jr, , Aldo Zilli, Eric Lanlard, Mohammad Orfali and Tarek Ibrahim, Tim Anderson,Paolo Pettenuzzo, Jenny Morris and others.
There will be live cooking stations where chefs will be sharing culinary secrets and demonstrating cookery techniques. If taste is what catches your fancy for this weekend we reckon you should head to Taste of Dubai.
