Egyptian legend Hani Shaker has risked upsetting the cast and crew of MBC's latest talent show 'The Voice' with his recent comments praising their rival show 'Arab Idol'.
The star said that Idol - MBC's last stab in the talent show market - grabbed his attention because of the 'authentic Egyptian talent' it produced, adding that its latest winner, Carmen Suleiman, is a great addition to the Arab music scene.
The show has had such an impact on the so-called Prince of Arabic Music that he is currently on the search for his own Egyptian star as a judge on local talent show ‘Sawt Al Hayat’ (The Voice of Al Hayat).
This is a dream-come-true for the singer who says that he agreed to be part of the show because of its star studded panel of judges including Moroccan singer Samira Saed and Egyptian msician Hilmi Bakr.
But, those banking on Shaker being an easy touch might need to think again – the star has promised that his judgement won’t be swayed by anything other than the contestants voices!
