Disney screened a 3-minute, behind-the-scenes video for Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the D23 Expo in Anaheim Saturday.
The footage showed Star Wars icons Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher, as well as John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie and Oscar Isaac, whose characters were introduced in the The Force Awakens, the seventh movie in the flagship film series.
The clip also offered a glimpse at the characters who will be played by franchise newbies Laura Dern and Benicio del Toro in the eighth chapter.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson The Last Jedi is set for release on Dec. 15.
"It's about family and that's what's so powerful about it," Fisher, who was seen as Princess Leia in four Star Wars blockbusters before she died late last year, says in this weekend's preview video.
