In line with its long-term strategy to enhance its presence in Abu Dhabi and at strategic locations across the UAE, Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, announced today the opening of its 16th branch in the nation’s capital. Located in the Sky Park Plaza in Terminal 3 of Abu Dhabi International Airport, this new Emirates NBD branch has been designed to meet the needs of travelers, residents and businesspeople.

A full-service branch, offering the complete range of Emirates NBD products and services, the Sky Park Plaza branch is open 12 hours a day, six days a week. It will prove especially convenient for the nearly 11 million passengers who now pass through Abu Dhabi International Airport annually.

“Emirates NBD is committed to expanding its presence across the UAE, including in the nation’s capital, where we continue to rapidly increase our network,” said Jamal Bin Ghalaita, Group Deputy CEO, Emirates NBD. “This special focus on Abu Dhabi and surrounding areas comes in response to growing customer demand, and in recognition of the importance of the emirate to the national economy.”

The Emirates NBD Sky Park Plaza branch will serve both Personal and Priority Banking customers. It is open from Saturday-Thursday, from 8AM-8PM, and features both an ATM and CDM (Cash Deposit Machine).

“The rapid growth of Abu Dhabi International Airport, which saw passenger numbers increase by more than 12 per cent last year, is testament to the level of world-class connectivity offered at this global hub – which is exactly the kind of location that fits the profile of our customers,” said Abdulelah Al Kindy, General Manager – Retail Banking, Emirates NBD.

“Our Sky Park Plaza branch is staffed by a team of professional tellers, relationship managers and investment specialists who understand the evolving requirements of all our customers, whether they live and work in the area or are traveling through the airport on a journey abroad,” he said. “We look forward to welcoming our customers to our newest branch in Abu Dhabi, and to welcoming them home to the UAE.”

Emirates NBD now operates a total of 16 branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, as well as 50 ATMs and 15 CDMs in the UAE capital. The opening of the Sky Park Plaza branch complements the numerous additional services available to Emirates NBD customers in Abu Dhabi, including at specialised centres focused on Business Banking, Private Banking, Priority Banking and Direct Sales.

Background Information

Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.
