The New York Police Department has opened a branch in Kfar Saba in order to strengthen ties with Israeli security forces, Maariv reported Thursday.
According to the report, the prestigious police force was looking to cooperate on a daily basis with the Israel Police, one of the main police forces worldwide with which NYPD has strong ties.
As a result, it was decided the Israeli base of the department – said to be the best police force in the world – would be located at the Israel Police headquarters in Kfar Saba rather than the US Embassy in Tel Aviv.
Charlie Ben-Naim, a veteran NYPD police detective of Israeli origin who married a native New Yorker, was chosen to open the department’s Israeli branch.
